Taxpayer-funded Pro-Hamas Professor
JENNIFER J. MANLY

Columbia University professor Jennifer J. Manly isn’t just marching in the streets for Hamas—she’s marching on the taxpayers’ dime.
In April of 2024, Manly joined a pro-Hamas demonstration on Columbia’s campus, locking arms with fellow faculty to block administrators from dismantling illegal encampments. Photos show her in an orange vest at the front of the protest, flanked by banners demanding divestment from Israel and “demilitarized” education.

But Manly’s influence stretches far beyond campus politics. A neuropsychologist at Columbia’s Sergievsky Center and Taub Institute, she has raked in more than $100 million in federal grants over the past two decades. Her research—funded by the National Institutes of Health—pushes the claim that racism, sexism, and even “historical lynching rates” cause brain disease.
Manly argues that dementia in Black communities is caused by “systems of oppression,” not biology or lifestyle choices. In one recent taxpayer-funded study, she claimed states with higher lynching rates decades ago show worse brain health outcomes today. Psychiatrist Kurt Miceli, of Do No Harm, says her work is little more than political activism: the biomarkers she relies on fluctuate with diet, diabetes, and obesity—factors she ignores to keep the focus on “racism.”
Meanwhile, Manly continues to oversee more than $20 million in active government grants. Her role as both a pro-Hamas activist and a high-profile recipient of federal research dollars raises a blunt question: why are taxpayers funding ideological crusades disguised as science?
Taxpayer dollars should go to genuine medical research, not to a pro-Hamas radical like Jennifer J. Manly pushing ideological agendas. Tell Columbia University to remove her from their employment immediately.
